About Virtual Coworker
The company has a positive track record of filling various positions, including virtual assistants, web developers, SEO specialists, copywriters, designers, and more. The basic premise is that any job that can be done remotely can be done for far less in the Philippines.
The way it works is you schedule a free consultation call, and if you’d like to move forward, simply submit VC’s job description form. Virtual Coworker’s team of recruiters will post your job on the top job boards and on their websites. They screen resumes and pre-interview candidates and then provide you with a short list of the most promising candidates.
Virtual Coworker Services
What separates Virtual Coworker from other recruiting services in the Philippines is that they’ll do this legwork for FREE. The other companies charge an upfront fee of $250-$500 for this service, like OnlineJobs.
Once you have a short list of candidates, you interview them via a skype or zoom video call. Once you’ve decided to hire, the company creates a contract on your behalf and handles all the payroll processing and HR requirements.

Virtual Coworker Plans and Pricing
The hourly rates for general administrative roles typically start from $6 to $8. The rates increase if you require someone with advanced skills, starting from $9 to $12 per hour. These rates are appealing, especially compared to Western wages.

Have you worked with Virtual Coworker? If so, please share your experience below.
I initially sent an application for a specific job posting but was informed that the job I applied for was already close. They kept my application active and after a month I got a call for an interview. They have an extensive recruitment process making sure you have the required skill set and technical requirement.
I appreciate that they reached out to me and now that I am working as their contractor, I appreciate more that the salary is never delayed. Always comes directly to my bank account on time. 🙂
Virtual Coworker would not give me a chance after I had a client way back 2014.
It was an honest mistake on my part and I am very sorry for what happened with that client.
they told me I can still re-apply but after countless re-application they turned me down pointblank!
Is this a Legit online job?
Hi Bob! Yes, virtual coworker offers legit online job opportunities. All you need to do is send your application. If the the fits your qualifications, you will undergo screening and series of interviews.
No fees, no obligations. You simply have to apply like how you would apply on a typical job hiring process.
I found my home base job from this site. Really grateful to you, I found a Social Media Marketing job at Virtual Coworker. 6 months and still going strong. Here are my tips:
– Create a strong RESUME
– Learn about the company you are applying for.
– Apply only to jobs that fit your qualifications.
– Show up on time for interviews.
– Be serious with your job search
– Ready your equipment. Stable internet connection and computer is a MUST!
Again, thank you very much.
Hi I am planning to apply in VCO but I felt not qualified with their requirements mostly needs to be more than specific years, too bad my expertise was mainly in Customer Service line. I just want to know if I still get a high chance to be hired for VA posts though my experiences are in CSR jobs? Thanks for the reply.
Before I joined VCO, I dealt with guilt daily for having to leave my baby in the care of someone and spending minimal time with family.
But now, I have a gratifying career that has eradicated time otherwise wasted on long commutes and morning preparations.
VCO has helped me find exactly what I was looking for – a work from home career that is challenging, fresh, lets me be creative! Best of all, my Australian client is absolutely wonderful!
As a VA/Admin for VCO, the more relaxed work environment enables me to focus and concentrate better on my campaigns – giving way to more productive end results. Working from your own home eliminates the hassle of interacting with annoying co-workers. Moreover, I can do what I do best even while I’m in my “labandera” look ^_^
Working with VCO is like working with the best people.
I didn’t know anybody at VC but I was helped every step of the way during the recruitment process and was hired right after my first interview which I had after submitting all requirements in 2 days. I never thought I’d find a company who will hire me based on my skills alone. It has been more than a year and I am still working with the same company that hired me. And to top it all, it is so assuring to find out that the other VA hired in the same company I was hired but was no longer needed by the company got another client in a matter of 2 days. All I wanted was a job at home and I got great pay and job security.
I would like to especially thank Trixie Malabuyoc, the one who recruited me to be a part of Virtual Coworker. She was really patient with me, and made sure I land a job suited for me and my skills. The company itself, provided me a client I very much enjoy working with. The pay is good and always on time. And the management and staff has been very nice to me from my recruitment process up until now. I do not have problems approaching them for queries and concerns and they have been prompt as always to answering and clarifying them all.
I decided to become a full-time home-based freelancer after being fed up with the daily grind of working at a local call center on night shift. My health was taking toll, and I also want to spend more time with my son. I stumbled upon Virtual Coworker, submitted my resume, and got a call after a couple of weeks. Ms. Lorraine was very professional as well as Ms. Mae Balmes who assisted me during the client interviews. After completing all the requirements, I was hired by a digital marketing agency in Australia and my bosses are awesome. They are friendly, understanding, and allows growth. After working for more than a year, I got promoted and started earning more. But the best thing you can gain from working with VC is that you can learn a lot of skill sets that are of high demand today. I am very thankful with VC, as I am earning double than the salary I received during my office job, plus I can get to play with my son once in a while. 🙂
Working with Virtual Coworker is absolutely satisfying. The way they handle their VAs is good. Regarding the pay, they never miss it. Always on time. Thank you VC for being part of your company.

These guys are serious professionals. They have an excellent recruitment and HR team in place, and provide great service from initial sales to recruitment to customer support after hiring.
They assign you a recruiter who really makes it easy to find your ideal candidate. She sent me 4 candidates within two days and after I interviewed all of them, it was extremely hard to make a choice as they were all wonderful!
I now have a team of VAs and web developers from the Philippines thanks to Virtual Coworker.
I have been hiring staff offshore for 6 years now and by far my experience with Virtual Coworker was the easiest. I usually go for freelance and source people on my own but for my Personal Assistant and WordPress Developer, I wanted to be certain of their skills. I admit, I was a little disappointed when the assigned recruiter called me to inform me that there would be a delay in the final interview due to power outage issue of one of the applicants but she was very efficient in informing me ahead of time.
My tips on hiring offshore staff:
– Look for someone with good communication skills. Someone who understands instructions.
– Give a consideration for internet and power outage, specially if the staff is in Philippines and during typhoon season. Although Virtual Coworker sets up contingency working stations, it would still be best to consider this.
– Have a time tracker, less issues on payroll and work load computation.
I found online opportunities from Virtual Coworker. Glad to have found home based job opportunities in the company. The pay is good and is never delayed which makes it even better. I suggest that online workers start with agencies like Virtual Coworker as they are more secure and the accountability is clear.
Virtual Assistant for Davao
Forgot to add my rating! 😀
I have been working for Virtual Coworker since November 2012 and is still connected with them until now. I would have not stayed with Virtual Coworker had they not been efficient in the staff relations, on time release of salary, competitive pay, and very fun working environment.
I am sad to read negative feedback but I guess that is part and parcel of rendering service, these are areas for improvement that the company must check on. But so far, in my 4 years with them I can say I am very happy.
I have tried outsourcing before and have had 4 staff who would either go MIA or AWOL. Common excuse was that they either had someone in the family who is sick or they are having issues with their internet.
What I like about Virtual Coworker is that they have employed a contingency plan for each applicant. I had a staff from them who got affected by the Typhoon Haiyan and they informed me efficiently. When the staff was not able to report, they reached out to me and to the staff making sure both parties are informed.
Working with Virtual Coworker has a lot of benefits. I have no issues with payroll, never heard my staff complain about late salary, I get updates and I don’t have to worry if my staff is working or not as they have a time tracking system. The most important thing for me when working with offshore staff is to know I will get expected results and that my staff is happily working for me. Virtual Coworker makes this possible.
I want to apply as a virtuam assistant I hope you will give me a chance to be part of this team
Virtual Coworker has been the most organized company for virtual assistants, at least for me. They provide the right expectations when it comes to the job and the client, and they never miss to answer my queries. I would highly recommend VC to anyone wishing to do home-based work.
What I like about Virtual Coworker:
1. They screen applicants and send us qualified candidates.
2. They manage the payroll
3. They use time tracking system for their staff
4. Very active and good clients and customer relations, so that when some issue comes up, they are there to assist.
The service is cost effective and really good option for start ups. They could improve on the turn-around time and communication but I would say that they are a good option for offshore staffing.
Do not waste your time on “Virtual Coworker”. They will lure you in by saying their is no-risk on you and you only pay when you choose a virtual assistant. With us, our virtual assistant spontaneously quit on us after 2-3 weeks. Went completely MIA! We wasted a lot of time, money and resources on training. Don’t let it happen to you!
We thought maybe we got a bad apple, so we decided to give it another go. But what a waste again! We blocked off 2 hours for 4 candidates. Funny how only 2 of the 4 showed up and they were all mediocre! They claim they have over 200 people applying and they carefully evaluate, screen and filter but just by seeing how their candidates don’t even show up for an interview is a bad reflection of their entire pool. And get this, the candidates don’t have a clue as to the hours you want them to work even though it’s all outlined in the job description, which shows VirtualCoworker doesn’t do a good job of informing and selecting candidates. If you expect to be able to choose a virtual candidate, don’t, because they only send you usually 1-2 profiles only so you’re forced to choose the best of the worst!
We tried long and hard to reach Patrick Wolfe and our recruiter to inform them of the totality of our dismal experience. It’s nearly impossible to get them to do anything. After sending emails, making phone calls and leaving voicemails, we finally got a hold of Patrick by going through sales on their hotline. Funny how they don’t respond to support through their phone or respond to support-related issues, only sales. Patrick informed us he would get back to us right away (with some form of retribution or credit) because he wants to earn our business, but he still never did. We even asked the recruiter to followup but nothing from Patrick. We’ve given up. Not shocked from this terrible agency.
Bottom-line: If you have time and money to waste, use them. Otherwise, look at all the other reviews here which all commonly share the same them and consistently show and prove that you are far better off using another agency. Take everything they say with a grain of salt and run…
Hi Adam, we apologize that your experience did not meet your expectations. We work our hardest to vet and endorse candidates who are a great fit for your business based on the job description provided. Additionally, we undertake the entire search and endorsement process for free and there is no limit on how many candidates we can send you. We also do not have any contractual minimum time period for which clients are required to sign up for. Therefore, as we do all the upfront work for free and also don’t lock you into a contract for a minimum length of time, our goals are very much the same: we only succeed if we find you a great staff member who sticks with you for a long period of time (as all of the work we do for you up to this point is free). Unfortunately there are occasions when a newly hired staff member decides the company is not a good a fit and quits. Such instances are rare, but if they do occur we are always willing to find a replacement candidate ASAP — and this too, same as the original search, would be done free of charge.
I’m pissed off as well. Very unprofessional and sarcastic Recruitment Specialist, Trixie Malabuyoc of Virtual Coworker
Do they only hire people overseas, or do they accept applications from VA’s in the states?
Very unprofessional Recruitment Specialist, Trixie Malabuyoc of Virtual Coworker. I hope you take out sarcasm from your interviews. It would be a useful idea to deliver questions with clarity than sarcastically questioning if the interviewee understood you. Please treat everyone with respect. I still look up to Virtual Coworker. But please make sure recruitment people are qualified as well to do sourcing.
Dude I have the same feeling when I was interviewed by Dia. There are words or question that Id like to be clarified during the interview and she answered back in an unpleasant way.
After reading all this comments .I am retracting my online application.
I AM SO PISSED WITH THIS VIRTUAL CO-WORKER THE INTERVIEWEE KEEP ME WAITNG FOR 40 MINUTES WITHOUT ANY PRIOR EMAIL THAT SHE IS DOING SOMETHING . THIS IS SO DISGUSTING AND SO UNPROFESSIONAL OF THEM. TIME IS PRECIOUS AND EVERYONE SHOULD RESPECT’S ONCE TIME.
I have been with countless home base jobs before and I am very confident now that I am with Virtual Coworker.
1. Recruitment was a breeze. It is natural that they ask for character reference and various documents. The recruiter who processed my application informed me that they once had a candidate who applied for numerous jobs using different names and images that is why they are very strict with the documents of applicants.
2. Pay is always on time. Never had issues with payroll, it always comes on the 25th of the month. I only had 1 salary delay but the CEO himself sent an apology letter and made sure that the staff was updated.
3. Approachable recruiters an staff relations officer.
Overall, I can say that I am confident and happy with Virtual Coworker.
Thanks Adrian. 🙂
Virtual Coworker is very professional at what they do. They have an intensive screening program to protect their clients and their company as well. In addition to this, they conduct a thorough onboard orientation. I commend Mae Balmes for this.
However, I was fired within one week because the client allegedly was not happy with my work. That was after a week of supplying the client with logo designs. He said that he was happy with my performance thus far prior to what happened. During the interview, the client said, ‘she’s a star and we’d love to have her on board’ and that was after reviewing my online portfolio. On my second week, 3 hours within my shift I couldn’t log in to my email anymore. Turns out I was locked out already because I was fired and I had no idea. There was no warning whatsoever and when I spoke to VC about this, they said they do allow clients to just drop the contractors whenever they please WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE before they become regular employees. How can one be judged for their work after a week of working on one task with very little direction. That is a flaw on VC’s rules. It’s obvious they try so hard to make the companies happy at the contractors’ expense.
Overall, it was a traumatic experience. Virtual Coworker may be good at what they do when it comes to companies looking for freelancers but they are a nightmare to work with for freelancers. They request for a mountain of requirements-including copies of your past internet bills- all to protect the companies looking for freelancers. They have no layer of protection whatsoever for us contractors. They are not aware that freelancers are also their clients, that without them, their service will not work. To top it all off, Dia Benlayo failed to get back to me regarding closure of my case. She told me she was busy.
During my first week, I was raving about being their contractor and I was recommending it to all my colleagues as I was impressed with the level of professionalism they showed during the hiring process. After that experience, I have not recommended them, and to my closest friends I tell them not to even think about starting with Virtual Coworker.
Excellent customer service and recruitment team
Thanks for the rating Patricia!
