I love BELAY’s process. BELAY does a really good job at helping me think through what I need and recognizing what I need even when I don’t know. As a church plant, we had a great desire to have excellent bookkeeping and stewardship systems from the beginning. As the church grew, though, we had trouble keeping up with accurate information and keeping qualified bookkeepers part-time.

As a brand new church start, we knew we needed assistance with bookkeeping. From a couple weeks before our January 2017 launch until now, BELAY has been our choice…and it’s been the right choice. Our bookkeeper, Kelley, is great. It’s her commitment to excellence, clear communication, and experience with the financial world that has created our positive experience. The southern charm helps too. Even when we’re not asked by other planters, we share our positive experience with BELAY.
It made sense to me to secure the services of a virtual assistant through BELAY as I have embraced how technology makes a virtual relationship not only possible but a great solution to a healthy work-life balance for both me as a client and my assistant, Candace as a contractor. I have been working with Hannah for a few months now. She is great! I am a small groups pastor and I was mostly looking for support on the admin side of things, but she has exceeded my expectations each step of the way.

For the past 6 months, we have utilized one of Belay’s virtual assistants. She has been an incredible asset. Communication was very easy, and she took ownership of recruiting and special projects in a very short period of time. I loved having a Virtual Assistant! She represented our company well, and I had several applicants mention how much they enjoyed talking with her. Our time was also super efficient as it was fully focused on work. Belay did a great job of finding someone who was a good fit for me personally, and was an asset in helping facilitate our initial interactions. As the Director of a start-up local chapter of Young Life, a ministry with the mission of introducing adolescents to Jesus and helping them grow in their faith, I am responsible for the whole kit and caboodle– I’m the CEO, the janitor, the receptionist, head of sales, fundraising, volunteer recruitment and training, and the maintenance person. Responsibilities aside, I also struggle to prioritize and delegate. Partnering with Beth (my virtual assistant) has helped me strengthen my prioritization and delegation muscles. Some of the projects that I had always needed to do (but never got to) like monthly newsletters, a community prayer page, and an updated website (to list a few) FINALLY got done!
Lastly, after about a year of working with Beth, she has become less “virtual” and more “assistant” and ministry partner. This is perhaps the biggest reason for any lone CEO in any industry to hire a Virtual Assistant.
I have been working with my assistant through Belay for about 6 months now. The work has been exceptional. Not only has she been trained to give those virtual nods to let me know she received information or completed a project, but she is able to do a more thorough research job on projects I personally consider tedious and frustrating.
My primary reason for recommending the VA with Belay is my return on investment. In the first month that I brought her own I was able to devote considerably more time on profit producing projects and seminars. This means that I wasn’t giving my time to administrative tasks that do not make money, and cost me time.

We have been using eahelp for past few years after losing a very competent admin. assistant in the office. The transition to eahelp was great and the VA assigned to our team was a really good fit. At this point we work really well together that I sometimes forget she is virtual. I would recommend a VA and Belay (eahelp) to anyone struggling to find a competent assistant.

We are apparently the aberration with our experience of eaHelp but it seems important to let you know so you can make an educated decision.
We are an online personal development company who specializes in the empowerment of women. We rely heavily on VEA’s (also called VA’s) for the success of our company.
In conclusion, we wasted 10+ hours, over $1500 in contract negotiation (legal) fees and 3.5 weeks with a company who was disorganized, told us conflicting information and was quite unprofessional.
For 3 weeks eaHelp dragged us along through the onbaording process telling us “Great news! We broke our standard protocol (wink) by exploring our arsenal of available rock start EAs and…. We have her!”. With that assurance in place and after being told to send any contract changes we had, our company spent a lot of money on attorneys fees to negotiate their contract (their contract is very one sided in their favor and is not well written).
After telling us they would get the contract back to us “tomorrow” over and over, they finally sent us a contract (a week late) with the following note: “Contract Negotiations: All request have been met except this one recommendation”. Except the reality was, it was a completely *different contract* and the majority of our changes were in fact not included. So, now I had to pay more money to have my attorney re-review their new contract and submit it. Never did a manager contact us to negotiate this or discuss it with us. It was very frustrating.
When we sent the changes to their *different contract*, they called and said they could not help us and to find another company. So, I insisted in talking to a manager. She agreed with the bulk of our changes. I agreed with two she needed to keep in place. Then, the next day, when she was supposed to send me the revised contract, she called to say they couldn’t help us because the VEA skills we wanted
So, we wasted 10+ hours, over $1500 in legal fees and 3.5 weeks with a company who was disorganized, told us conflicting information and was quite unprofessional.
As for the contract specifics, read carefully what you are signing. They require that they auto charge you every month (no approval process, you are powerless as a consumer) and if you are 6 days late, they charge you 3%!! That is unheard of in the industry and a very expensive remedy. Other issues include: if they make a mistake and you dispute it, you still have to pay it plus all new fees and they have no accountability to solve the problem for you and you have no dispute resolution other than mediating in Georgia (make sure you ask for an offset which means they take it off your bill while they research what happened).
With as many positive reviews as this company has online, my guess is the VEA’s ask their client to post a positive review because they get rewarded inside of eaHelp.
They treated us pretty poorly. Perhaps this review will encourage them to look at some things that are broken in their system.

eaHelp is the best investment you can make. Our small 501c3 needed help through a major transition. We also are a totally virtual company, with clients across all 50 States. We first contracted with eaHELP in 2013 at a bare minimum – 10 hours a week – to assist us with travel, minor bookkeeping, calendaring and to help us put systems in place. I had a long list of what I wanted in an admin. I’ve worked with other virtual admins through the years and found the screening process difficult. I just don’t have a big enough network around the country to find the perfect person consistently. Admittedly I paid a lot less than I do now, so I hesitated to sign up with a service. The cost is higher, yes. However, when I am trusting my personal and financial information to someone, I want them based in the USA and fully vetted. The technology they utilize offers additional safety features to keep you within your comfort zone easily. I also wanted an assistant that was fluent with the programs I use and online technologies and they delivered someone that exceeded my expectations. I continue to be amazed how much we can accomplish together via cloud, etc. In this case, you truly get what you pay for and when I compare this cost with an in-house assistant, I am saving thousands of dollars and I did not have to do the ground work myself.
Additionally, I am learning to let go of the “stuff” more and more with my VA’s help and Stephanie has been vital in that shift for me. Now my email is organized, calendar correct, deliverables on time, flights and hotels handled, contracts done, research all completed and organized, customer followup and gifts completed and on and on. There is really nothing Stephanie does not help me/my team with and her performance is consistent and accurate, which in my world is absolutely essential.
I really cannot say enough good things. In my travels, eaHelp has a excellent reputation and seems to be the go to for entreprenuers and execs nationwide. Try this service. You will be thrilled you did and you will have the time to focus on the important things in your life. Be warned though: the only limitations I have found have been my own!

My company provides clients with high-end tax and legal advice. As part of our projects, we have a lot of spreadsheet work that is required, we have to interact with many employees at the client, and we juggle various tax deadlines. We could have hired high priced lawyers, CPAs and paralegals to help us with our projects, but we decided to give EAHelp a try. It was somewhat of an experiment on our part, since we were going to train these people to be project managers in our technical area, but we liked the concept of paying EAHelp for only the hours we need so that if projects dried up we wouldn’t have a heavy payroll burden on our financials, and we liked the idea of staffing up during certain times of the year in order to meet the demands of the practice. We started with one EAHelp person and she was so good that we added a second. They have worked out great. They aren’t doing traditional EA work, but are full-fledged teammates on our projects and have probably learned more about the tax law than they ever cared to learn. However, I think they are being challenged everyday, which they like, and they are getting an opportunity to work in a way they never would have received if searching for full time employment. They seem to like working crazy hours when their kids go to sleep or school, and also enjoy the flexibility of taking kids to school, being at home when they get off the bus, or just being challenged professionally while still getting to be a Mom most of the time. I think this concept is great and we plan to restructure our growth plans to include EA help in the future. Not only are the people they provide to clients first class, but their own corporate people are on the ball, organized, friendly, and responsive. I feel like they are a partner in our business. One last comment is that our two EA help ladies are in different states, but they interact with each other almost daily. We use GoToMeeting, which allows them to see each other on the screen, and we host almost daily meetings, so everybody feels like they are part of the team despite the fact that we are all virtual. It is a great set-up!
My EAHelp virtual assistant, Joni, has been a tremendous blessing to help me start and grow a new non-profit Christian publishing company. I have been using EAHelp for more than three months now and it only gets better.
I was a lawyer for over five years and became very dependent on an assistant. When I struck out on my own, I had to relearn self-sufficiency. I never intended to start up a ministry and so when a full-time ministry blossomed, I was feeling quite overwhelmed and on the path to burnout. I have been working with Carrie for a little over a year. Very shortly after getting started (within 2-3 weeks) I realized this was something I should have done a long, long time ago. My personal productivity is so much higher after working with Carrie that there is no question whether the cost is justified. You truly get what you pay for and I could not be happier with the monthly investment I make to keep Carrie on board. Here are a few of the things that make her stand out.
We are hundreds of miles apart, but clients and colleagues are routinely under the impression that Carrie is a full time employee working in a local office where I must pay rent, hang a sign, setup computers and conference rooms, etc. There is a lot that goes into pulling something like that off while you aren’t even trying to give that impression. Carrie is a pro at technology and communication, including the good old fashion telephone. When people interact with her there is nothing to suggest that she is anything but the type of consummate professional to which they are accustomed. The fact that she is part of a new wave of virtualization never even occurs to them. She’s that good.
Carrie is also a master at making our business look supremely competent. Clients routinely get calls to remind them of things they have promised us or followup calls that they have asked for on a specific date. I have been hiring and managing employees on my own dime for over 10 years and no one is as good at followup and keeping things from falling through the cracks as Carrie. I cannot tell you how many times I am packing up at the close of a meeting, engaging in the usual small talk and niceties when someone says “and wow, Carrie is sharp. Let her know we really enjoy working with her.”
Carrie also knows how to strike the delicate balance between assertively taking things off my plate that she is better suited to handle and assuming more control than I am presently comfortable giving up. There is no question that I spend more time on high value tasks than I did before she joined the company. And given everything I have experienced I know that a year from now that percentage of time spent on things only I can do will be even higher.
I have had more than one person balk at finding their own Carrie through EaHelp because of the cost. But you cannot treat highly competent general VA’s like a commodity any more than you can compare a 4 bedroom house and an RV because they both have a sink to wash dishes. From the onboarding and match making process through to the frequent but unobtrusive checkins from my relationship manager EaHelp gets it right every single step of the way.
The pros don’t consider the up front cost of the tool. They think about the life they will get out of it and the increase in productivity over that time. You can go find a VA on the cheap and join the ranks of amateurs or you can make a proper investment and work with a VA that says to everyone “now here’s a professional.” Carrie does that for me on a daily basis and I couldn’t be happier or more grateful for the folks at EaHelp who put us together.
Brandi and I have been working together now for about a month. She came on board to help me manage my Social Media, edit and post blogs, do some basic market research, and help me solve general problems while I am traveling. Brandi has had a real can do attitude. If she doesn’t know something she says it up front and then will research a solution. One of the nice things about eaHelp is that they have established a network for the assistants including a Facebook page where they can ask each other questions and trouble shoot issues. I am for sure going to be able to take my business to an entirely new level of performance because Brandi is on my team.
I am back in the hunt for a new VA after letting go of mine with eaHelp. I was drawn to the reviews, the association with Michael Hyatt, and the people that they helped.
I did significant amount of research for several weeks and narrowed it down to two offshore companies and eahelp, which was 3 times more expensive. However the work I needed required strong English speaking skills (or so I thought) and being able to keep up with my high visibility tasks, so I didn’t want to take my chances.
I have a lot on my plate and knew that it could be difficult to help me manage my tasks. After several interviews with the different companies, I finally decided to go with eahelp.
One of the good things about them is that you get an implementation manager that spends significant time with you to get to know you and your work, personality, preferences, etc.
This was a good start and I felt confident that this was going to be worth it. I was introduced to my VA and got off to a decent start, but unfortunately it started to go downhill from there.
I had to continually remind my VA, tried multiple communication methods, redo tasks myself, and after talking to my Implementation Manager, she quickly setup a mtg for all of us to be on the same page. I wanted to be sure that it wasn’t me, that maybe I wasn’t communicating properly or giving unreasonable tasks. If it was, I wanted to do what I could to fix it. I was patient for the time being thinking it was.
The meeting helped a bit and I was under the impression that our expectations were set, and we had a clear path to move forward. Unfortunately it wasn’t to last and while I was gone three weeks overseas, the stress of having to follow-up and remind my VA on dropped tasks was more work than just doing it myself.
So I let the VA go. Then more problems came up. I gave a company email to my VA and it just happened that all her emails were deleted, including in my account which she had access to. I was told that it was the server and had nothing to do with the VA. But that is impossible given that emails don’t disappear unless they are deleted, especially since only those emails were gone, not others.
The VA was supposed to track my speaking engagements, and follow-ups with my travel, and of course since all of the emails were gone, I had no idea what happened, what was done, and what I needed to do.
I had angry people calling me saying they had sent emails or went back and forth with my VA but never got a final response. I had to ask them to forward me the conversation. Since all of the emails were gone, and I unfortunately my IT company couldn’t get them back, I couldn’t fix the situation immediately until the people she had talked to just came out and tell me what needed to be finished.
Thankfully I still had my finger on some things so was able to minimize the damage and just send out a massive email explaining the situation to my contact list, which was embarrassing somewhat. The implementation manager told me that this VA had problems with another client apparently and was let go from the organization. I guess I had to be one of the guinea pigs.
To the credit of the team, they tried to fix things as much as they could, and give a small discount if I found another VA with them. But by this time I had lost money, 3x more than the others, time, and was still having to work through the issues that I had no visibility on until after it was too late.
I don’t fault the organization necessarily since it is impossible to only get the best since some may get through any organization. They tried their best to fix it, and i think that is the most important thing.
It is good to see that others have had a much better experience than I. If I had to say anything, just make sure the fit is right and that you have a system to make sure things are done properly and that the VA truly understands what needs to be done. Looking back, there were some red flags from the get go, but I ignored them and the VA probably wanted the job so didn’t tell me honestly if she didn’t understand some things.
Assuming is bad, and I think both of us assumed too much. It was a good learning experience for me to on what I would do on the next go around.
I still believe in VAs and will continue to look for one, so please don’t let my experience sway anyone, but use it as a learning experience.

Whew! Where do I start? As a one-woman entrepreneur, it’s really tough to keep it all together, and to do it well. I was absolutely drowning and about to crushed under the pressure of all I had to do-especially the day-to-day tasks. Kara-my assistant from EAHelp is a GODsend. eaHELP has been incredible to work with. We started a new church about six months ago. One just assumes that you set up chairs, gather a crowd and hold services. About four months in, I was beginning to get overwhelmed with small details that were consuming my time. What were these quarterly forms that I have to file with the state? Why couldn’t I print my W-2 from last year through our online payroll system? How is this person’s birthday not on my calendar? I need to send flowers to this funeral. I have a mail merge that needs to be done. I need to run background checks on my ministry leaders. I need to setup dinner with a couple this week. I need to reschedule my son’s music practice. I need to schedule lunch with a pastor who is coming to town. I need to find a storage unit nearby. I need to see about group lessons for tennis for my son. I need to get a copy of a message that I heard preached last year at a church in Oklahoma. I need to schedule people for interviews for a video we are shooting for an upcoming service. I need to coordinate our community service project to paint a graffiti-covered building, but I don’t know who own the building or if they will let us do it, but I need someone to find out.
AND…. I still have to prepare three messages a week, visit first-time guests, counsel with families, get out into the community to invite people to our services, introduce myself to people in our community, prepare all music for upcoming services, plan church calendar events and foster a sense of community in our church. AND…I still have to be a husband to an amazing woman and a father who is building a legacy in his three children.
I had researched virtual assistants through freelancer sites, but I wasn’t looking to pay someone $5 to find me the cheapest flight from Honolulu to LA. Now when you start out, most companies will ask you to provide a job description, but most will NOT ask you to provide a full-scale personality assessment, work-flow document to discover opportunities, and questionnaire on your expectations and communication style.
They definitely make an effort to match you up with an EA that will be a good fit, and I was matched up w/ Patty.
eaHELP also assigns a relationship manager who serves as a go-between for you and your EA if any problems come up. I didn’t have much interaction with her since everything was fine, but I can imagine that being potentially kind of awkward. Like if explained to my relationship manager, hey, I’m not thrilled with Patty’s performance, and then she turns around and relays that to Patty and it’s like, Ok… why didn’t he just tell me?
But other clients are using their relationship managers as kind of outsourcing consultants, seeking out best practices on how to best utilize their assistant. Clients are leveraging the experience of their relationship managers for benchmarking, coaching, and as trusted advisors throughout the engagement.
In terms of pricing, I think it’s a matter of framing — yes, eaHELP’s rates are on the high-end when compared with other VA companies — but they’re not framing against other VA companies. They’re comparing themselves to on-site EA’s, and against that alternative, they’re obviously quite affordable. When stacked up against the regulatory headaches, paperwork burden, payroll processing and other tangible (taxes) and intangible expenses of a traditional EA, eaHELP offers an attractive one-stop solution. Pretty savvy positioning if you ask me.
In terms of performance, there were some tasks that were REALLY well done. For example, I asked Patty to proofread a book I was working on, even though she had no “professional” editing experience. It was embarrassing how many typos and mistakes she found, that I’d missed and that another editor had missed. Really an awesome job and huge help.
Similar results on a couple other projects. One of my favorites was having her analyze common traits of delinquent loans on the peer-to-peer lending site Prosper.com. Since it was somewhat tedious work and required using my login information to a financial site, it was great to have someone trustworthy and local.
I feel like I could have done a better job in delegating and being better organized, and better utilizing Patty’s existing skill sets. For instance, she had a background in accounting management, but I never thought to have her work on any bookkeeping or tax stuff!
But like I said I wasn’t the best outsourcer in this case because I didn’t always have a clear list of tasks to be done. But in those times when there was a lull, I would have loved to see some more proactive suggestions that could have helped move the business forward. I think that would have been really valuable.
So was it worth it? The worth-it question is so subjective. A lot of the stuff we worked on didn’t have a measurable ROI — so strictly in terms of dollars, if I’d been paying for the service, no it wouldn’t have been worth it. But if I was paying, you can be sure I would have focused intensely on the high-value tasks that couldn’t as easily have been done by a lower priced VA.
And that’s the thing, the question of worth depends completely on how you envision using your EA. If you just need someone for data entry, basic research, and calendar bookings, eaHELP is probably not going to be the best bang for your buck. But if you’re looking for a trusted partner in business, a native English speaker, someone who can be in your email and social media accounts, someone who can represent you and your brand on a professional level, I think they’re definitely worth a look.

Professional, courteous, and dedicated to my satisfaction. After exploring less expensive, off-shore services & finding them less than satisfactory, I’m very happy with eaHELP.
A few things to note:
If you’re getting a lot of value from your assistant, you’ll inevitably want them to have access to sensitive information or accounts. I feel 100x better doing this with an assistant in the US that is backed by a US firm – not to mention that comfort given by eaHELP’s sync process that also gives me my assistant’s personal information.
I also wanted an assistant that was very adept with online technologies and they delivered someone that exceeded my expectations.
Last, the cost can be a barrier to some people – but I encourage you to first decide if you really want an assistant or if you want someone to help with the occasional project. If the latter, I recommend you get a local college student as an intern and pay them $10/hr.
If you want an assistant, finding a PT assistant can be difficult and a FT professional assistant will run you $40-$50K. Depending on your approach to benefits and office space, that can push the cost up another 10% – meaning you’re paying at least $3500+/mo. Plus, a FT assistant can be hard to keep busy… often creating an atmosphere of resentment or pressure to give them ‘busy’ work.
Bottomline: eaHELP has found a nice sweet spot for those that do not require a FT assistant, but need something more than the occasional side project. My assistant coordinates with me daily & has a genuine interest in making my life easier… what more can you want?
