eaHELP is a virtual executive assistant company that employs exclusively US-based assistants. The company got its start in 2010 helping churches and pastors outsource their administrative work, and has since expanded to serve businesses (small & large) nationwide.
eaHELP executive assistants are administrative professionals trained in a variety of support tasks. Their goal is to integrate tightly with you and your existing team for a cohesive process-flow, even though they’ll be working remotely.
Some of the more common jobs eaHELP VAs do include scheduling and travel planning, research, preparing presentations, social media admin, project management, and other ongoing business support functions. The idea is to let someone else handle what they’re good at, so you can focus your time on what you’re good at — or what you need to do to grow your business.
The eaHELP model is known as a “staff leasing” arrangement. Where other virtual assistant companies may assign your tasks to whoever is available at the moment, eaHELP gives you a dedicated/assigned assistant so you can build a one-on-one relationship and gain the efficiencies that come with it.
With dedicated support and All-American executive assistants, eaHELP is a positioned as a premium service in the competitive world of cloud staffing. But instead of racing to the bottom on pricing, they want to help your organization race to the top, with hand-picked VAs matched against your needs (both professional & personal requirements).
The company offers monthly service plans in 5-hour per week increments. The most popular plan to start out with for small businesses, entrepreneurs, or people who just want to take a test drive is the baseline 5-hour a week plan. The sign-up process begins with a free consultation and personalized price quote.
A flat monthly fee gives you access to you VA week in and week out, without having to worry about overhead, timesheets, and billing headaches. Modest discounts are available for scaling up the engagement, and you can change plans at any time given reasonable notice.
As you might expect, eaHELP is considerably more expensive than many of the overseas virtual assistant options. In some parts of the world, you may even be able to find a full-time virtual employee for a lower monthly fee. But eaHELP believes you get what you pay for, and clearly isn’t targeting the same customer who’s looking for the $5/hour VA.
As of September 2012, their hourly rates range from $35 to $44. The good thing is that these rates are “all-inclusive”, in that you don’t have any additional employer burden costs to pay on top of it, like you would with a traditional W-2 employee. If you are a non-profit or a church, lower rates may be available.

A few things to note:
If you’re getting a lot of value from your assistant, you’ll inevitably want them to have access to sensitive information or accounts. I feel 100x better doing this with an assistant in the US that is backed by a US firm – not to mention that comfort given by eaHELP’s sync process that also gives me my assistant’s personal information.
I also wanted an assistant that was very adept with online technologies and they delivered someone that exceeded my expectations.
Last, the cost can be a barrier to some people – but I encourage you to first decide if you really want an assistant or if you want someone to help with the occasional project. If the latter, I recommend you get a local college student as an intern and pay them $10/hr.
If you want an assistant, finding a PT assistant can be difficult and a FT professional assistant will run you $40-$50K. Depending on your approach to benefits and office space, that can push the cost up another 10% – meaning you’re paying at least $3500+/mo. Plus, a FT assistant can be hard to keep busy… often creating an atmosphere of resentment or pressure to give them ‘busy’ work.
Bottomline: eaHELP has found a nice sweet spot for those that do not require a FT assistant, but need something more than the occasional side project. My assistant coordinates with me daily & has a genuine interest in making my life easier… what more can you want?

I went through an in-depth matching process to in order to be placed with just the right executive assistant. They didn’t just pull the next available person for the job. I filled out a series of documents that asked great questions. I came to find out that my assistant, Caroline, was asked to do the same thing. After my recorded phone conversation with the eaHELP team, they would gather and listen to the phone call again and start building out the criteria and profile of the “EA” that would fit me and my company the best. It’s refreshing to work with a “smart” company – not just a company who tries to get things done quickly, but one that takes time and puts a plan in place that will wow their clients.

I wasn’t too sure what to expect when this all started, but I did have a good amount of confidence in “who” my EA would be after walking through this matching process. Bottom line: Caroline is really, really good at what she does. I’ve looked around at some reviews of eaHELP and other client testimonies and everyone is saying the same thing about their EA. Bryan and Shannon at eaHELP take their hiring process very seriously and make sure that they are hiring competent, quick-learning, others-centered, hard-working folks who love details and thrive on getting the job done the right way. This has been my experience in working with Caroline. It doesn’t matter that she is three states away. She gets the job done, serves our clients well and is a great reflection of the Yellow Leaf Marketing brand.
3. eaHELP gets it. Period.
I’ve had the privilege of getting to know Bryan Miles, eaHELP’s CEO and Co-Founder, a little more since bringing Caroline on board and believe me when I tell you that he gets it. We are still getting our feet wet but have been very pleased with the responsiveness and overall quality of work provided by Megan. She is, as are all we have dealt with from EA, pleasant and professional. Megan has lessened my task list dramatically and that has been wonderful.
